She attended Pitzer College in Claremont and graduated early with honors in 2016.

Erlick mentions beginning her activism at 15 in 2010, when she joined the board of a nearby LGBTQ youth conference.

More than a year later, when she supported California’s School Success and Opportunity Act, the first state law to protect transgender children, she made her media debut.
