Well, in 2013, Beyer received a diagnosis of advanced kidney failure.

She needed dialysis four times a day, seven days a week, from the 2014 election until she got a transplant in 2017. Following her surgery, she started making public appearances again.

Additionally, in a 2020 interview with Stuff, she mentioned that she had undergone gender confirmation surgery in Thailand several years ago, which was a successful procedure.

Beyer had also been open about her struggles with addiction but had since overcome these challenges and had been sober for many years.

In the same interview with Stuff, she spoke about her current focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and practicing self-care.

After her death, her friends mentioned that she was surrounded by her family and close ones over the past week and that Beyer had accepted what was coming. 

She was happy and cracked jokes right until her last moments. At Georgina’s request, there will only be a memorial service, but no funeral service shall be held.
