Hours were spent by the U.S. Coast Guard scouring the waters off Louisiana for the four passengers of a helicopter that crashed on Thursday as it was leaving an oil platform.

The choice to halt a search is always difficult, according to Lt. Cmdr. Kevin Keefe, the search and rescue mission coordinator for the Coast Guard’s Sector New Orleans.

It was unclear whether the search would get back up on Friday morning.

At around 8:40 a.m. CST, the helicopter pilot and three oil employees perished in the Gulf of Mexico, according to Petty Officer Jose Hernandez, a spokesman for the Coast Guard’s 8th District, which has its main office in New Orleans.

The soldiers and the chopper are back on land in Port Fourchon. According to family members, five days after, a helicopter crash in the Gulf of Mexico claimed the lives of four men.

When the bodies are given to the families is yet unknown. The Bell 407 helicopter crashed Thursday morning, leaving an oil platform with three oil rig workers and a pilot inside.

The lifting of the airplane and the retrieval of the soldiers are now the following steps, though the family is unsure of when this procedure will formally start or when their loved ones will return home.

The family of one passenger, 36-year-old David Scarborough, has been waiting and suffering for days.

His wife, Lacy Scarborough, claimed that she had been trying to acquire updates on the search for her husband’s body for days without success.

Death of David Scarborough & Family

After eight years of working offshore, David Scarborough had just finished a two-week shift and was headed home to spend Christmas with his family.

Following losing their first kid to unintentional drowning in March, his wife, Lacy, is currently expecting a second child. Scarborough was also a WLOX team member’s nephew.

Additionally, we’re trying to find out more about Tim Graham, a passenger from Quitman, Mississippi.

Graham was one of the four guys on board, according to a Thursday night story from the Clarke County Tribune.

The U.S. Coast Guard officer Jose Hernandez asserts that Rotorcraft Leasing Company is the helicopter’s owner.

The Company has not yet made a statement about the disaster or the names of the passengers or the pilot.

This was the third crash for the Louisiana-based aircraft firm in 2022. Two weeks previously, on December 15, a Rotorcraft helicopter went down near Terrebonne Bay, Louisiana, leaving three passengers stranded.

This was the most recent crash. The American Coast Guard eventually saved those passengers.

On January 14, a Rotorcraft helicopter crashed into a marsh close to Lafourche Parish, killing the pilot and a passenger. This was the year’s first fatal crash.

On Thursday, the National Transportation Safety Board announced that it was looking into the most recent collision.

12 further Rotorcraft mishaps with 10 fatalities have been recorded after 2004, according to a review of the NTSB database.

All three of the Company’s crashes in 2022 have not yet had NTSB findings published.

According to the NTSB website, the agency strives to finish an inquiry within 12 to 24 months, but this can vary depending on the complexity of the probe and the workload of its investigators.

We are trying to find out additional information about the Company, the other occupants of the aircraft, including the pilot, and the particular aircraft that crashed.
