Muhammad Mustafa And Iftikhar Ahmed Sentence To Death For Osama Satti Murder Case

For the murder of Osama Satti, Muhammad Mustafa and Iftikhar Ahmed, two Police officers, were given the death penalty.

The trial court’s decision to punish two Police officers who killed Osama Satti with the death penalty has been contested, according to a Monday Express-News report.

The appeal will be heard today by a two-judge panel of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) comprised of Justices Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri. Police officers Iftikhar Ahmed and Muhammad Mustafa’s death sentences have been challenged in the petition.

The petition demanded the release of the jailed Police officers and claimed that the trial court’s ruling was illegal and should be declared void.

Iftikhar Ahmed, Muhammad Mustafa, and three other defendants were given life sentences for their roles in the murder of Osama Satti after being found guilty by a district and sessions court in the federal capital.

The case’s reserved judgment, delivered by Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry, stipulated that Iftikhar and Muhammad would receive the death penalty and a fine of Rs 1 million each.

It is important to remember that the Osama Satti case trial, in which Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Mustafa, Saeed Ahmed, Shakeel Ahmed, and Mudassar Mukhtar were named defendants, lasted for two years and one month.

The defendants in the case are anti-terrorism Police officers, and the plaintiff’s attorney in the murder case is Raja Faisal Younis, a former secretary of the High Court Bar.

Osama Satti Murder Case: What Happened?

Osama had gone to pick up his friend in Sector H-11 on January 2, 2021, around two in the morning. He was returning when the Police officers stopped his car in Sector G-10 on the Srinagar Highway and opened Fire on him from all directions.

Three months later, the terrorism-related provisions in the murder case had been removed by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad, and the case had been forwarded to a district and sessions court.

After the anti-terrorism court indicted five ATC cops charged with the student’s murder in the alleged encounter that sparked outrage on social media, the court reserved its decision last month.

ATC Judge Shah Rukh Arjumand announced petitions asking for the repeal of anti-terrorism laws. However, the court denied the accused ATS officer Mudassar’s request for bail.

Osama Satti Post Mortem Results

Osama Satti was shot multiple times from the front, according to the post-mortem report.

Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) personnel shot and killed Osama Satti after alleging that the youth refused to stop his car at a checkpoint after hearing about a robbery in Islamabad. According to reports, the late student was shot 17 times after disobeying Police orders to stop.

The Police initially classified the incident as a robbery case. Five Police officers were later detained, and a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against them in accordance with anti-terrorism and murder laws.

A court investigation into the victim’s murder earlier on Monday recommended holding members of the Anti-Terrorism Squad accountable under the Terrorism Act of 1997.
