The case is underway at the Pretoria High Court. During an earlier sitting of the trial, Tumelo Madlala dropped a bombshell by identifying Bongani as one of the men that had entered the House the night of the shooting.

Tumelo, Senzo’s childhood friend, returned to the witness stand on Monday for cross-examination.

The best friend was grilled by one of the defense lawyers. They accused him of being evasive in his answers.

However, the state witness told the court of memory lapse when answering most questions posed to him during cross-examination.

He is The State’s third witness and was present when the Bafana captain was killed.

Tumelo remembers hardly anything about the day his friend was killed. The one thing he did remember was seeing one of the accused, Bongani Ntanzi, in the House attacking the occupants.

He added that the suspect, on that day, was wearing a jacket with a hoodie but could not recall the specific color of the hoodie.

Tumelo is expected to return to the witness stand for further cross-examination.

It was initially believed that three people were involved in the fatal shooting of Senzo, and Police released images of two suspects.

One of the suspects, Zamokuhle Mbatha, was arrested on October 31, 2014. He appeared in court but was let go on November 11, 2014, citing a lack of evidence.
