Where Is Eric Bieniemy Going After Leaving Kansas City? New Job And Career Earning

Eric Bieniemy agreed to a deal to leave the Kansas City Chiefs to join the Washington Commanders as their offensive coordinator and assistant coach on 18 February 2023.

Eric Bieniemy is a former player and coach of American nationality. He played college football for the Colorado Buffaloes. During their national championship season in 1990, he received unanimous All-American honors and came in third in the Heisman Award voting.

Before moving on to Kansas City Chiefs as the running backs coach in 2013, Bieniemy spent two seasons as Colorado’s offensive coordinator.

He won Super Bowl LIV and Super Bowl LVII with the Chiefs after being appointed offensive coordinator under head coach Andy Reid in 2018. But the Lousiana native recently left the Kansas City Chiefs. Where is he going now?

Let’s take a detailed look at Eric Bieniemy’s professional life.

The new position entails a pay rise, a multi-year contract, and the extra title of assistant head coach. Scott Turner, who was sacked at the end of the season, will be replaced by Bieniemy.

Bieniemy served as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator during the previous five seasons, during which he saw Patrick Mahomes develop into a two-time MVP and five-time Pro Bowler.

Also, he assisted in leading Kansas City to three Super Bowl trips and two wins, the most recent of which was a 38-35 triumph over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Under the leadership of head coach Ron Rivera, a former defensive player is likely to command the Commanders’ offense. Despite Washington’s lack of offensive talent, several fascinating playmakers are on the team.

Nonetheless, the assistant coach’s influence will undoubtedly be felt across everything the Washington team does in 2023, which may change the perception of his future as an NFL head coach sooner rather than later.

Why Did Eric Bieniemy Leave Kansas City Chiefs?

Even after his two Chiefs predecessors, Doug Pederson and Matt Nagy received top jobs following their respective tenures under Andy Reid. However, despite his accomplishments, Bieniemy wasn’t selected as head coach.

Even though in Super Bowl LVII, both his offense and the defense coached by Jonathan Gannon – now the Arizona Cardinals’ head coach – were able to compete head-to-head.

Bieniemy devised the two second-half red-zone touchdowns that helped Kansas City rally to defeat the Eagles, according to Chiefs backup quarterback Chad Henne.

The former Kansas City Chiefs OC’s role in Reid’s offense has been highly debated, both as a play-caller and a thinker.
