Where Is Russell Westbrook Going? Who Did he Get Traded To?

After the Los Angeles Lakers stated earlier that they were not interested in pursuing a deal, fans are wondering where Russell Westbrook is going.

The Lakers dropped to 25-30 on Tuesday, while James set the NBA career scoring record and currently sits 13th in the 15-team Western Conference.

Before and during this season, Los Angeles looked into trading Westbrook, but they could not do so until this deal. Westbrook averages 15.9 points, 7.5 assists, 6.2 rebounds, and 41.7% field goal and 29.6% 3-point shooting percentages this season as part of a five-year, $206.7 million deal that will pay him $47 million.

After stating for weeks that they were not interested in pursuing a deal and did not want to use their remaining first-round picks, things came to a head on Wednesday night.

A move to the bench last fall resulted in minor improvements over the disappointing 2021-22 season. The Lakers, who are in risk of missing the playoffs for a second straight season, made Westbrook seem uneasy.

The Lakers will also acquire Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt from Utah. The Jazz will receive Damion Jone, Juan Toscano-Anderson, and a first-round draft pick while Minnesota will also receive Nickeil Alexander-Walker and picks.

Westbrook might ask for a buyout from the Jazz to play for a contender.

Did Russell Westbrook Accept The Trade?

Russell Westbrook has demonstrated his willingness to accept and succeed in a role change. That success coming off the bench should translate into a larger market for Westbrook once he is acquired.

That was a significant trade because it filled many of the Lakers’ remaining roster gaps. However, it also raised some concerns about Westbrook’s future.

The Jazz is rumored to be working on a buyout, which would put Westbrook on the market.
