Jim was 17; then, he got a white index card and wrote down his career objectives. My goals included playing high school and college basketball, becoming an assistant basketball coach, and eventually becoming the head coach. 

He was also honored for making an uplifting speech at the 1993 ESPY Awards while suffering from Cancer and was in critical condition.
