Whoopi Goldberg Injury Update: What Happened To Her? Is She Still In Hospital?

Whoopi Goldberg, whose real name is Caryn Elaine Johnson and who was born on November 13, 1955, is an American Actor, comedian, writer, and television personality.

She is one of 17 artists who have won the EGOT, which consists of an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, an Academy Award (or “Oscar”), and a Tony Award.

She has won multiple awards. Whoopi was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2001.

With her one-woman play Spook Show, Goldberg launched her stage career in 1983. Whoopi Goldberg, the show’s Broadway adaptation, lasted from 1984 to 1985. For recording the show, she took home a Grammy for Best Comedy Album.

Her breakthrough performance as Celie, a mistreated woman in the Deep South, in Steven Spielberg’s historical Drama The Color Purple marked her entry into the big screen.

Whoopi Goldberg will miss the next few episodes of The View while she recovers from a positive Covid test.

The co-hosts of the ABC daytime talk show addressed Goldberg’s absence a day after it was made public that she had been ill.

Welcome to The View, everyone, and good morning. At the beginning of the hour-long broadcast, Joy Behar announced, “Unfortunately, Whoopi is out with Covid.

So get some rest, and come back here, Miss, once you’re feeling better.

Goldberg was replaced as the moderator by Behar, and the panel also included Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.

The co-hosts didn’t provide an update on Goldberg’s condition, but Behar once more sent the EGOT Actor well wishes at the end of the program.

This is Goldberg’s second contract with Covid. The show’s moderator missed a few episodes at the start of 2022 because she tested positive for the virus she had acquired in December 2021.

When Goldberg appeared virtually on The View on January 5, she said, “I just feel like you can only do what you can do and whatever your body decides it’s going to do is what you have to roll with.”

It could have been much, much, much, much worse, I’m sure, and it wasn’t, Goldberg continued. I’m incredibly fortunate and overjoyed that all of the recent tests are negative. In my family, I’m the only one who is still upbeat.

The daughter of Robert James Johnson Jr., a Baptist pastor, and Emma Johnson, a nurse, and teacher, Caryn Elaine Johnson was born in Manhattan, New York City, on November 13, 1955.

She was reared in the Chelsea-Elliot Houses, a public housing development in New York City.

She was reared by her mother, who Goldberg characterized as a “stern, strong, and smart woman,” along with her brother Clyde. She went to a nearby Catholic school called St. Columba’s.

She left Washington Irving High School. Whoopi’s recent ancestors came from Faceville, Georgia, Palatka, Florida, and Virginia.

In an incident recounted by Nichelle Nichols in Trekkies (1997), a little Goldberg was watching Star Trek when she exclaimed, “Uhura!” “Momma! A black woman is on television but is not a maid!”  

Thanks to this, Goldberg has been a longtime admirer of Star Trek. She finally requested and was given the part of Guinan on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

In the 1970s, Goldberg relocated to Berkeley, California, where she worked odd jobs as a bricklayer, bank teller, and mortuary cosmetologist. She also worked as a server in San Diego, California.

Courtney Love was one of her acting pupils when she joined the avant-garde theatrical group Blake Street Hawkeyes and started teaching comedy and acting. In addition, Goldberg participated in several plays.

She saw a midair collision of two planes in San Diego in 1978, which led to post-traumatic stress disorder and her developing a fear of flying.
