Brendan Whitworth, aged 46, began his career in the Marines and CIA before earning an MBA from Harvard. He eventually rose to the position of CEO at Anheuser-Busch.

The Bud Light brand he oversees has recently faced significant controversy after collaborating with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

People clearly remember the backlash Bud Light received after teaming with Dylan and a substantial decline in Anheuser-Busch’s value.

The controversy even led to bomb threats targeting their factories across the United States.

June- the pride month! Brendan Whitworth, CEO of Anheuser-Busch, faced criticism for his response to the backlash over Dylan Mulvaney’s Bud Light advertisement. 

Rumours emerged that Anheuser-Busch had lost its LGBTQ+ rating due to caving to the backlash, and now by some people, the CEO himself is being called gay.

While Whitworth being gay is not valid, and only the hate he has been receiving, his statement was widely condemned as inadequate and lacking substance.

Rather than strongly supporting LGBTQ+ rights and marginalized communities, he praised the company’s employment record and avoided divisive discussions.

The Human Rights Campaign suspended Anheuser-Busch’s Corporate Equality Index score in a letter dated May 9.

The campaign addressed the company’s lack of support for the LGBTQ+ community in response to the bigoted backlash.

The controversy intensified when conservatives spread conspiracy theories about the CEO’s past employment with the CIA.

They speculated that the government had orchestrated Whitworth’s placement in the company to promote a “woke” agenda.

In terms of the recent news, Brendan Whitworth confirms financial aid is being provided to wholesalers and beer distributors affected by the boycott backlash.

The Anheuser-Busch CEO acknowledged his responsibility and expressed concern for the impact on employees, consumers, and distributors.

As mentioned above, people were triggered by a video featuring Dylan Mulvaney receiving personalized Bud Light cans.

The boycott, supported by conservatives such as Kid Rock and Travis Tritt, led to Bud Light losing its position as America’s top-selling beer to Modelo.

The backlash also prompted some members of the LGBTQ+ community to join the boycott, disappointed by Anheuser-Busch’s response through various statements.

When questioned about Bud Light’s stance on LGBTQ+ rights, he emphasized the company’s longstanding support for the queer community dating back to 1998.

Whitworth also highlighted their commitment to supporting relevant organizations and communities while maintaining focus on their product.

He talked about as the company goes forward, they aim to prioritize its strengths, which include brewing excellent beer for all and actively listening to its consumers.

The strategy also included ensuring employees’ well-being, approaching them with humility, and positively impacting the communities they serve.

The feedback received was crystal clear in their interactions with over 100,000 consumers during the past month.

Whitworth explained that the consumers wanted to reinforce the core values that Bud Light has always represented.

To illustrate, those core values include creating enjoyable experiences, fostering goodwill, and providing easy enjoyment.

The CEO also revealed Anheuser-Busch’s plan to triple their investment in Bud Light this year, coinciding with the launch of their upcoming summer campaign.
