Why Was Tevin Campbell Arrested?

After entering a no-contest plea to soliciting a sexual act from an undercover cop, R&B musician Tevin Campbell was required to attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings and an AIDS awareness program, according to the Associated Press.

In addition, Campbell, 22, received a $1,080 fine on Monday for the misdemeanor conviction resulting from his arrest on July 8.

He was told to appear in court on February 7 with documentation indicating he had finished the sentence’s requirements for drug rehabilitation and AIDS education.

In a Los Angeles Police sting operation, the singer was taken into custody in front of Van Nuys Elementary School.

When Campbell sang “Tomorrow (A Better You, Better Me)” from Quincy Jones’ 1989 album “Back On The Block,” he made his recording debut at the age of twelve.

Soon after, Campbell accepted an invitation from the musician then known as Prince to contribute “Round And Round” to the 1990 “Graffiti Bridge” soundtrack.

Campbell released his self-titled debut album in 1991.

What Did Tevin Campbell Do?

During a sting operation in Van Nuys, California, in July 1999, Campbell was detained after asking an undercover Police officer to perform a lewd act on him.

According to reports, the sting operation was carried out near an elementary school where the general public had frequently complained about cruising and solicitation.

Police records state that when Campbell was arrested, he also possessed a minor amount of marijuana. Campbell stayed out of the spotlight in 2000.

The Best of Tevin Campbell, a compilation album, was published by Campbell in 2001.

Public Image Regarding Tevin Campbell’s Sexuality

For years, mostly from when he was a child to his adolescent and young adult years, Campbell coped with rumors about his sexuality without directly addressing them.

He said he couldn’t understand why people were still so curious about whether he was gay in 2018.

Campbell refuted claims that Quincy Jones had sexually molested him while he was a teenager.

He threatened to sue Jaguar Wright in 2020 on allegations that he had turned into a sex worker.

2019 saw Campbell add the rainbow flag, a Scorpio symbol, and a bald eagle emoji to his Twitter page.

On March 8, 2022, Campbell answered a Twitter user who was asking what their mother thought about the sexuality of several famous singers by writing, “Tevin is,” along with a rainbow flag and a chill emoji.

This sparked rumors regarding Campbell’s sexual orientation. Later, the singer removed the tweet. Campbell came out as gay in an interview with the People Everyday podcast on August 17, 2022.
