Getgo Accident Update: Driver, 31, Dies After Car Crashes Into Side Of Bus In Yishun

The Getgo accident created a buzz on the internet after the driver lost his life and the other six passengers were injured and rushed to the hospital.

Sources claim the driver of a GetGo car got killed after the vehicle collided with an SBS Transit bus in Yishun on January 13, 2023, at night. 

Reports show a GetGo vehicle, a SsangYong Tivoli, crushed the right side of the SBS vehicle; the bus service 117 accident occurred at a 4-way juncture between Yishun Avenue 2 and Yishun Central at 10.48 pm.

The Getgo accident occurred after the driver hit the BS Transit bus in Yishun and was brutally damaged, as evident in the videos released online. 

In addition to the driver’s untimely demise, six passengers were severely injured as per the Police.

Sinagporeuncensored claimed the incident occurred on January 13, 2023, at about 2248hrs along Yishun Ave 2 towards the junction of Canberra and Yishun Avenue 3.

The accidents captivated the audiences’ attention after a video of the accident, which was circulating on social media on January 14, 2023.

 The footage showed that the car driver ran a green light, but the vehicle crashed into the right side of the bus at high speed.

The collision caused the GetGo car’s bonnet to be entirely crushed while denting the right side of the bus. Although it shook the bus, it thankfully did not tip over, stopping further loss of lives.

What Happened To The Driver?

According to Police authorities, the 31-year-old driver lost his life on the way to the hospital.

Sadly, the 31-year-old man was driving the GetGo rental vehicle; he was conveyed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Headtopics claimed the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the accident at the junction of Yishun Ave 2 and Yishun Central at about 10.55 pm.

The 31-year-old driver was unconscious while taken to hospital, where he died, and two ambulances can be spotted at the scene for carrying the other injured passenger.

In response to the mishap,car-sharing firm GetGo released a statement claiming: they are aware of the incident and are assisting the Police with the investigations.

One of the Reddit users reported the driver’s rear-facing camera that recorded the impact and car length away from being T-boned instead of the bus, which led to his death of him.

Another user added that there was no evasive action or braking despite having a car in the middle of his windscreen.

Getgo Accident: How Are The Passengers?

Police confirmed at least six passengers were injured after the crash.

Following the accident, SCDF rescued the person using hydraulic rescue equipment and conveyed seven people to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

Furthermore, SCDF revealed a victim was found trapped in the car’s driver’s seat and had to be rescued by its officers using hydraulic rescue equipment.

For further updates on the incident,Police are carrying out the investigation.

Headtopic records show, Six other bus passengers, aged between 22 and 40, were conscious when taken to the hospital, as reported by the Police.

Last year also, two GetGo accidents went viral on the internet due to the driver’s errant driving skills.
