When he arrived in Russia, medical professionals discovered that he had pneumonia in both lungs. They put him into a medically induced coma for eight days and then kept him in the critical care unit for four weeks, during which time he temporarily lost his motor skills.

Peterson and his family relocated to Belgrade, Serbia, some months after receiving treatment in Russia. When Peterson appeared on an edition of his daughter’s podcast in Belgrade in June 2020, it was his first public appearance in more than a year. At that time, he was back to his regular self and was cautiously hopeful about his chances.

However, Peterson’s daughter revealed in August 2020 that her Father got COVID-19. It happened when he was in Serbia for some treatment. Peterson said on his YouTube account two months later that he had returned to Canada and planned to start working again soon.
