Linda Lewis reportedly tied the knot two times. “You Turned My Bitter Into Sweet” singer was married to famous guitarist and bassist Jim Cregan.

The former couple worked together on several projects. Jim Cregan served as a record producer for Linda Lewis’ music.

Jim and Linda walked down the aisle at the Church of St. Barnabas in East Molesey on 18 March 1977. Linda met her first husband, Jim Cregan, while walking on Hampstead Heath. The lovebirds dated for many years before getting married.

However, their bond only lasted for a few years. As reported by Surrey Live, Linda and Jim’s marriage went downhill after an incident at a New Zealand hotel in 1979.

Linda Lewis’ second marriage was with the head of a worldwide booking agency, Neil Warnock.

Linda Lewis Family And Childhood

Born Linda Ann Fredericks, Linda Lewis was a native of West Ham, Essex. She was born on 27 September 1950. It has been reported that the vocalist was her parents’ eldest child. Her mom and dad had a total of six children.

The Essex-born artist grew up with her five younger siblings, surrounded by the love and support of her parents. Dee Lewis and Shirley Lewis are among the singer’s siblings.

The versatile singer went to stage school and appeared in several television and film roles, such as A Taste of Honey and A Hard Day’s Night.

Linda Lewis also sang in public to earn money. The talented vocalist joined a British band, The Q Set. With her bandmates, she performed Jamaican-style music, ska and blue beat.

The England-born vocalist performed “Dancing in the Street” with John Lee Hooker in a Southend-on-Sea club in 1964.

Hooker set up Don Arden to manage Linda Lewis after introducing her to Ian Samwell. The 72-year-old collaborated with Polydor and released the single “You Turned My Bitter Into Sweet,” now a coveted Northern Soul record.

Linda Kendrick, another artist signed to Polydor, was concerned that her name, Linda Fredericks, would confuse. In honor of singer Barbara Lewis, Fredericks adopted the new surname and became Linda Lewis.

Linda’s mother and younger sisters, Dee and Shirley Lewis, also used the surname professionally.

Sadly, the English singer Linda Lewis died at 72. Linda’s younger sister, Dee Lewis, confirmed her demise in a statement published on social media.
