Victor Bray Illness And Health Update: Australian Car Racer Battled With Skin Cancer

Victor Bray is an Australian professional drag racer, born on May 26, 1957, in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

He recently drives a 1957 Chevy and is best known for his achievements in the sport of drag racing, particularly in the Top Doorslammer category.

The owner & principal of Team Bray Racing, Victor Bray, won his first Australian championship in 1995 in the Modified category and went on to win six more championships over the course of his career.

Victor, a fan favorite renowned for massive burnouts and quick times, is regarded as a pioneer and a legend in the sport.

Overall, he is a highly respected figure in the Australian drag racing community and continues to be involved in the sport as a mentor and ambassador.

In recent times, no specific details about Victor Bray’s illness have become public. Despite rumors that he is currently ill and not doing well, no official confirmations have been said from the racer’s side.

Furthermore, we cannot find Victor on his social media handles; he seems to be leading his personal life outside of the media limelight and has been living a healthy life. 

If he was currently sick or unwell, his team, Bray Racing, would have definitely shared the details with the public.

Although the prolific racer has been doing well in recent days, his health has fluctuated over the years.

Additionally, since he is involved in a field where injuries are inevitable, Victor has also been involved in several accidents. Nonetheless, the owner of Team Bray racing is healthy and fit currently. 

Australian Car Racer Victor Bray Battled With Skin Cancer

The Australian car racer, Victor Bray, was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2017. He underwent successful surgery to remove cancer and has since been actively involved in promoting skin cancer awareness.

Because of his cancer diagnosis, the racer was battling health issues and was away from the racing track for some time. 

A skin cancer called squamous cell carcinoma was found in his right cheek. However, after recovering, Victor made a comeback to the track in 2018.

Additionally, after a 15-hour surgery to remove cancer, Victor was compelled to watch the 2017’s Winternationals from his hospital bed while they were broadcast online.

In a video released by Team Bray Racing, Victor states, “They [doctors] say they took out what they needed to take out, and they say I’m slowly recovering, but it’s a long, hard journey, I can tell you.”

After the cancer diagnosis, Bray also lost around 110kg because of his health struggles. 

Victor Bray’s Son Is Following In His Footsteps

Victor Bray’s son Ben Bray is also a part of Team Bray Racing, and he drives for the team. He also has been the Australian champion in Top Alcohol and Top Doorslammer.

They have won eight ANDRA Pro Series titles collectively. Zac, Ben’s son, has also joined the Junior Dragster division of drag racing.

Over the years, the squad has taken breaks from competing, especially in 2014, when Ben Bray was recovering from a severe drag racing accident and didn’t race again until 2015.

Nonetheless, Victor’s son Bray has followed in his footsteps, and Bray’s son, Zac, is also involved in the racing field now.
