Who Was Nikita Washington Detroit? Death And Obituary

Nikita Washington Detroit is trending all over the Internet as the woman died while giving birth, leaving her mother to care for her children.

Following her daughter, Nikita Washington’s death during childbirth, a grandmother in Detroit is responsible for raising 12 children.

The deceased mother was an African American who died through a C-section at Harper University Hospital the day after giving birth to her 12th child, Nathaniel.

Patricia Pouncey, the grandmother, feels numb when she reflects on her daughter’s tragic loss in December.

The pain of her daughter’s death has been intensified by her uncertainty about the circumstances leading up to it.

Pouncey notes that her daughter had to go to the hospital alone because Nikita’s husband was incarcerated.

As she had to remain home to care for her other grandchildren, she now regrets not going with her daughter to the hospital.

Who Was Nikita Washington Detroit?

Nikita Washington was a mother from Detroit who died last year while giving birth to her 12th child.

Washington gave birth to her 12th kid, Nathaniel, at Hutzel Hospital in Detroit on December 22.

The following day, her sister, Daveia Knox, went to the hospital to see the baby but was unaware that her sister was facing complications.

Nikita’s oxygen level had dropped, and she required a ventilator and emergency surgery due to internal bleeding.

Despite her family’s plea to save her, she died at 11:55 a.m. due to postpartum hemorrhage and complications from multiple C-sections.

The family questions whether the hospital did everything to save Washington, and they have not received any information or communication from the hospital.

Washington’s death left her 12 children motherless. Still, her mother, sisters, and extended family have taken responsibility for caring for them.

The father of Nikita’s older children is deceased, and the father of the younger children is incarcerated.

The children would have been placed in Michigan’s foster care system without their relatives.

Patricia relies on her faith to raise her grandchildren and is grateful for the donations that helped the family buy a new home and a reliable vehicle.

She wants people to remember her daughter as a kind, generous person who loved doing hair, music, and spending time with family.
