Arhan Vyas’s Death came less than a year after another campus tragedy, the May death of Trisha Nicole Yasay, a junior who died after colliding with a garbage truck.
According to campus officials, a UC Davis student was found dead Tuesday morning in his Miller Hall residence.
Yolo County coroner’s officials identified him as Arhan Vyas, an 18-year-old attending the University on a student visa from Mumbai, India.

UC Davis counselors visited the resident hall to speak with the student’s roommates as part of the postvention procedure, while others contacted the family.
Arhan Vyas, UC Davis Student, Died In Miller Hall
Authorities say a student died on Tuesday at a UC Davis residence hall. He was discovered in the morning at his University housing, Miller Hall.
His cause of death is unknown until an autopsy is scheduled on Saturday, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Gina Moya on Tuesday evening.
Other details about Vyas’ death were not revealed, and UCD referred questions to coroner’s officials in charge of the probe.

According to Vyas’ LinkedIn profile, he started at UCD in September and pursued a bachelor of science degree in computer technology.
“Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved him,” stated University authorities in a written statement mourning Vyas’ death. “We appreciate the first responders who were on the scene and did everything they could to save the student.”
According to PulsePoint, an app that tracks Fire department incident responses, the UCD Fire Department came to the student’s La Rue Road residence twice — once at 1:46 am and again at 5:05 am. Further information about the multiple responses was also withheld for the time being.

According to the UCD statement, campus counselors were sent to Miller Hall to meet with the student’s roommates, while others contacted his family.
There has been no word about a possible cause of death. Counselors at UC Davis have spoken with the student’s housemates, and his family has also been informed.
According to a school statement, first responders at Miller Hall, a campus dormitory, “tried everything they could for the kid” but were unable to save him. The school did not reveal the reason for the death or the pupil’s identity.
“We understand that many of you are hurting, and we share your pain,” officials stated. “We encourage the University community to seek our assistance and other resources.”

The Yolo County District Attorney’s Office announced last month that it would not pursue criminal charges against the garbage truck driver.
Still, a civil wrongful-death action filed by Yasay’s parents against the driver and the UC Regents remained pending in Yolo Superior Court.
