Yes, Hall of Fame coach Bill Self is suspended for four matches. However, he isn’t leaving KU by any means. The Kansas coach said he respects the authority’s decision to suspend him and looks forward to his return.

According to the report, the college will reduce the number of staff and official visits during the 2023-24 academic calendar. Similarly, other essential recruitments and scholarships will also be reduced during the upcoming year.

Likewise, Kansas had already doubled Self’s payment by signing him to a new contract in April 2021.

His five-year deal with the team has certain terms, including Self’s one additional year after each season’s conclusion. Also, the agreement guaranteed his salary to be $5.41 million per annum.

Self’s base salary is $225,000, while his professional services contract is $2.75 million with an annual retention bonus of $2.435 million. This deal hints toward Self’s lifetime contract.

Bill Self Retirement Rumors And Four Games Suspension

Kansas suspended Bill Self for four games in November 2022. He is not allowed to participate in the team’s upcoming four matches due to ongoing infractions case.

The Hall of Fame coach Self and his top assistant Kurtis Townsend were suspended for the first four games starting on Wednesday. He was imposed with several recruiting restrictions.

Bill Self said this in his statement after his suspension:

I totally accept and support KU’s decision. I have full respect for KU and so does coach Townsend. Frankly speaking, we are all good with Coach Roberts and hope he does great in these four matches.

Likewise, Bill will miss the match against Omaha, North Dakota State, Southern Utah, and the Champions Classic showdown between the No. 5 Jayhawks and No. 7 Duke.

He will rejoin the team to face North Carolina State (N.C. State) on 23 November in the Bahamas.
