David Michael dos Santos Miranda, a Brazilian politician, and journalist, was born on September 12, 1980, in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro.
He belonged to the Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL) and was a federal deputy for Rio de Janeiro from 2019 until his death.

Glenn Greenwald, an American journalist, and lawyer, announced on Tuesday that his husband, David Miranda, a columnist for Guardian US and politician, had died.
Even though there are few cancer rumors regarding David Miranda’s death, the Brazilian politician died due to a gastrointestinal infection.
Miranda died being surrounded by family and friends after spending nine months in intensive care following a stomach infection.
The politician is survived by his husband and their two adopted sons, João and Jonathan.
In the tribute posted by Glenn on Tuesday morning, Miranda was remembered as a combative and loving personality who was a powerful voice of resistance in Brazil.
He was accompanied by photos of their two sons, aged 13 and 15, calling Miranda “the most dedicated and loving parent. He taught me how to be a father.”
David Miranda came to national attention in 2013 when he became the partner of Glenn Greenwald.
Glenn broke the story about the National Security Agency’s surveillance program based on Edward Snowden’s leaks.
Miranda, who grew up in Rio’s Jacarezinho favela and lost his mother at a young age. He is the first openly gay man elected to the council.
David ran for a seat in the Rio de Janeiro City Council in 2016 as a member of the PSOL and was elected with over 50,000 votes,
He played a crucial role in the Snowden leaks, and his inspiring life story and passion for change inspired many people, according to Greenwald.
The couple met on Rio’s Ipanema beach when Miranda spilled his drink on Greenwald with a ball.

David Miranda: Illness At Death Gastrointestinal Infection
David Miranda passed away on Tuesday after being hospitalized for nine months.
Miranda was admitted due to a severe gastrointestinal infection that rapidly spread through his bloodstream and affected multiple organs.
Glenn, Miranda’s husband, announced his passing on Twitter and mentioned that he died peacefully with his loved ones by his side.
Miranda was admitted to Clínica São Vicente in Gávea, Brazil, in August 2022 for treatment of a gastrointestinal infection.
This led to a series of infections, including sepsis, a life-threatening condition caused by the body’s response to an infection that damages its own tissues and organs.
Despite undergoing intensive care for nine months, his condition continued to worsen, and he passed away a day before his 38th birthday.
The exact cause of the initial gastrointestinal infection and subsequent infections has not been disclosed.
Nevertheless, the prolonged hospitalization in the ICU highlights the severity of his condition and the complexity of the infections.
