After seven years, Trevor Noah announced last month that he would depart The Daily Show. Then he said, “My time is over. “However, in the most lovely way.”

The audience gasped in disbelief at Noah’s statement, but he later emphasized that presenting the show was something he loved doing.

The 38-year-old has been the host of the satirical news and discussion program since replacing Jon Stewart in 2015.

Before relocating to the U.S. in 2011, Noah began his career in his native South Africa, producing several stand-up specials and hosting a late-night talk show.

He was primarily unknown when he was picked to take over the Daily Show on the Comedy Central network.

Following his tenure as host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah said he intends to embark on a comedy tour.

Noah revealed Monday that his 28-city Off the Record Tour would start in Atlanta on January 20.

The second Netflix comedy special from Noah, titled I Wish You Would, is scheduled to debut on Tuesday.

The Off the Record Tour will make stops in Texas, California, New York, Boston, and New Orleans.

According to the tour’s promoter, Live Nation, international dates are expected to be added. On Friday, the general public will be able to purchase tickets.

Having replaced Jon Stewart as the youngest host in 2015, Noah, 38, has hosted Comedy Central’s late-night talk program for seven years.
