Many think that Ryan Keeler committed suicide when the news of his passing spread.

According to officials, Lineman Ryan Keeler of the University of Las Vegas passed away on Monday from undetermined circumstances in his studio apartment in Las Vegas.

Last season, Keeler played seven games for UNLV and had eight tackles and one sack. Keeler, a 20-year-old defensive lineman from Chicago, began his undergraduate career at Rutgers and finished it with UNLV.

The 275-pound, 6-foot-6 star captioned a shot of himself using a squat rack to lift weights, “Back in that mindset.”

Ryan participated in two games for the Rebels in his first season, with a sack and eight total tackles. Keeler, a pre-business major, received Academic All-Mountain West recognition for maintaining a 3.80-grade point average.

Ryan Keeler Suicide: What Caused His Death?

After learning of Ryan Keeler’s passing, speculations circulated that he had committed suicide. 

His cause of death hasn’t been made public, and the Clark County coroner investigates his death’s cause and manner.

According to the Associated Press, officials said they were awaiting the results of a blood toxicology test, which might take several weeks. As Per Las Vegas Police officer Robert Wicks, the inquiry would be kept open pending the findings of the coroner and detectives.

Greg Schiano, the head coach of Rutgers, announced in a statement that they were shocked to learn of Ryan’s passing. His passion stood out the most as he got to know him as a recruit and then as he got to coach him.

He continued by mentioning Ryan’s passion for both football and his teammates. During this trying time, they conveyed their condolences and prayers to Ryan’s friends and family.

Although he had the pleasure of knowing Ryan for only a few months, Rebels coach Barry Odom stated that Ryan already stood out to their coaching staff as an exceptional guy, student, and teammate. He sent Ryan’s family his thoughts and prayers as they mourned this tragic loss together.

On Monday, UNLV athletes, including defensive lineman Adam Plant Jr., commented on social media about Keeler. The Nazareth Academy in La Grange Park, Illinois, where Keeler attended high school, also announced his passing.
