Meyiwa was shot and killed during a robbery at Kelly Khumalo, an Actress and singer who was his lover, at her Vosloorus House. He was already deceased when he got to the hospital in Johannesburg.

Police identified two suspects through composite photos and claimed that three people were involved in the shooting.
