He grew up in the East Bay with his sister. According to his personal website, his mother, Christine, raised him and his sister while putting herself through nursing school. Jones has not mentioned his father anywhere.
His grandparents were working-class Black people from Chicago’s South Side and were Filipino immigrants who moved to California.
The young politician learned the value of spirituality, environmental responsibility, and community involvement from his family, especially his two grandmothers.
He has been interested in politics and the public’s well-being since he was young. Justin learned the importance of speaking up for equality when he attended public school.

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted 72–25 to remove Justin Jones and 69-25 to remove Justin Pearson.
Gloria Johnson, a third Democratic lawmaker who participated in the protest, was the subject of an expulsion vote. But the expulsion vote failed.

The Covenant School shooting on 27 March in Nashville killed six people, including three kids. U.S. President Joe Biden criticized the mass shooting as “shocking, undemocratic, and without precedent.”
In one of the most diverse districts in the state, 78,000 individuals were left without representation, said Justin Jones during his interview with the BBC.
“Two youngest black lawmakers” had been removed “because we stood demanding action on gun violence,” Jones continued.
“The country and the world are surprised and should be shocked,” Mr. Jones went on, “because they said that democracy does not matter in Tennessee.”
The expulsions mark the first time in Tennessee’s recent history that such a decision was made without consent from both parties.
The attempt to dismiss Ms. Johnson failed by one vote, falling short of the necessary two-thirds majority. The score was 65 to 30. The audience in the chamber cheered for her.
Mr. Pearson and Mr. Jones are black men, and Ms. Johnson is white. Johnson said that Republicans didn’t kick her out because of her skin color.
