Details On The Crash By Jason Karvois And Its Aftermath

On December 9, a devastating car crash occurred in West Palm Beach, causing the death of a 61-year-old cyclist, Foad Makhmoor.

Following the incident, the residents of the area immediately informed the police.

Upon reaching the crash site, the authorities collected two blood samples.

Further, they also caught a 44-year-old man named Jason Ryan Karvois shortly after the incident.

Meanwhile, the blood draws suggested the blood-alcohol level of Jason to be four times more than the legal limit during the crash.

The measured blood alcohol level in Jason’s system was 0.306, and 0.259 per 100 milliliters exceeded Florida’s threshold of 0.08.

Furthermore, during the search of his vehicle, officers found two empty bottles of vodka, a clear plastic bag filled with cocaine, and various prescription pills.

However, according to the reports, the drug test showed no other drugs except for alcohol in Jason’s body.

Additionally, the officers also found a 9 mm pistol and a 9*19-caliber pistol in Jason’s SUV.

Meanwhile, the autopsy report of Foad Makhmoor suggested the cause of his death to be multiple blunt-force injuries suffered from the crash.

Nonetheless, this severe incident exemplifies what irresponsible behavior behind the wheels can result in.

More About the Legal Procedures And Hearing

Following the incident, West Palm Beach police arrested Jason Karvois on May 5.

The authorities accused him of one count of DUI manslaughter and one of leaving the scene.

Subsequently, a hearing occurred at the Palm Beach County Jail the following day.

During the hearing, Circuit Judge Luis Delgado set Jason’s bail at $100,000 and ordered him to wear an ankle monitor upon release.

Meanwhile, the attorney representing Jason remained silent during the hearing, and the proceedings couldn’t conclude.

Furthermore, according to the arrest report, Jason crashed into Foad at around 7 p.m. on December 9 with a dark blue Infiniti Qx80 SUV.

The investigators shared that Jason swerved and struck Foad, riding in a designated bicycle lane.

Additionally, the witnesses observed Jason stopping at a short distance away from the scene. They also identified him as the sole operator of the vehicle.

However, the current status of Jason’s case is not publicly available, but reportedly, he is on bail for now.
