Rita Marley was born Alfarita Constantia Anderson on July 25, 1946, in Santiago de Cuba.
When Rita was a few months old, her parents split up, so her early life was one of chaotic change.
However, her mom somehow managed to give her a healthy upbringing by migrating to Trenchtown, Kingston, in Jamaica. There, she was raised predominantly by her aunt.
As for education, she studied nursing but was interested in music, singing in church, and being part of an all-girls vocal trio, The Soulettes, in the early 1960s.
While pursuing a music career, she met her then-future husband, Bob.
And then, a love story started between Rita and Bob Marley, and they married in 1966 in their early twenties.
After marriage, Rita Marley bore three children with Bob Marley. They were Cedella, David “Ziggy” and Stephen.
The focal point of motherhood for her emerged during the late sixties and early seventies. At that time, she tried to juggle caring for her young children with her musical career.
Rita became even more successful and famous yet stayed in touch with her hometown in Trenchtown, Jamaica, where she lived with Bob.
