The nickname “Ace” was first used by Logan three episodes after they met, in “Norman Miller, I’m Pregnant!”
At first, it referred to Rory’s impressive skills and her dream of becoming a top-notch journalist, an “ace reporter.”
But the nickname went beyond just recognizing her career goals. To Logan, it signified that he thought Rory was the best in every way.
Throughout most of Gilmore Girls, Rory and Logan are in a romantic relationship, and Logan calls her “Ace” affectionately.
Later in the spinoff series A Year in the Life, there’s a hint that Logan might be the father of Rory’s baby.

The romance between Rory and Logan begins when they meet with each other in season 5 and unexpectedly fall in love.
